Yes!!! Pie! I am so excited for this recipe; the only pie I know is meatpie so you can’t imagine how excited I am to know there is a delicious pie I can prepare and its as “easy as pie” lol. This creamy, decadent, and insanely delicious pie is the perfect way to finish off any meal, pie has always been a great dessert option after meals.

I’d like to add that it is an African American recipe, so it’s a great way to try out other diverse recipes in the African community. There are various ways of enjoying your potato pie, so don’t limit yourself to this simple but yet classy way of making it. Get creative!

Ingredients

  • Pie crust
  • Brown and granulated sugar
  • Evaporated milk
  • Vanilla extract
  • Sour cream
  • GInger
  • Salt
  • Nutmeg
  • Cinnamon
  • Sweet potato
  • Butter
  • Eggs
  • Spices

Potato pie

Directions on how to prepare potato pie

Rinse, peel and cut the sweet potato into chunks, then add them to a medium saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil over high heat and reduce heat; cook for about 12 minutes when potato is soft and tender. Add into a mixing bowl and prepare to mash it with a mixer, you now add butter, sugar, evaporated milk, eggs, nutmeg spice, ground spice, cinnamon spice, salt and vanilla extract. Continue mixing until all spices are thoroughly mixed in.

Pour the filling into the pie crust and bake for another 40 minutes or until the top is nicely browned. Take it down and serve the potatot pie with whipped cream, caramel sauce. Potato pie is so easy it wouldn’t take long before you have its delicious filling in your mouth, marinating it with the right flavours and taste.
