Ethiopian Cabbage Recipe

I’ve always believed life is meant to be enjoyed and not managed, “I no talk say make you blow your pikin school fess unto say you wan lau-lau“, enjoying life is to many people different ways. To some, enjoyment means going to club, buying expensive things; to me? Its food (lots of delicious food). This Ethiopian Cabbage Dish is one you should definitely try to enjoy.

This right here is a very easy but delicious recipe that i couldn’t pass on without plugging you guys through. Its an Ethiopian dish made out of potatoes and cabbage and trust me, once you get the hang of this dish, na to open buka remain. You can of course eat his delicious dish with any protein of your choice or a very delicious milk shake would go just as well.


  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 4 medium carrots, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • ½ head green cabbage, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 5 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes

How to make Ethiopian Cabbage Dish

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add carrots and onion; cook and stir until beginning to soften, about 5 minutes. Stir in cabbage, salt, pepper, cumin, and turmeric; cook for 15 to 20 minutes. Shikenah! E no pass like this oooo

Add potatoes; reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook until potatoes are soft, about 20 minutes. Serve and enjoy!!!
